Custom hearing protection

Many people who are exposed to loud noise at work are choosing to wear in-the-ear hearing protection rather than conventional headsets. This will explain the advantages of custom made earplugs over other types of protection.

You will need to have impressions made of your ears so that this equipment can be provided for you. Normally the equipment can be provided four-six weeks after the impressions are taken.

Why custom hearing protection?

The in-the-ear filters have a number of advantages: -

  • They are custom made for your ears, so they are comfortable and easy to wear
  • You will be able to use communication equipment in the normal way
  • They will protect your hearing, but give you good awareness of environmental sound for safety purposes

They are also suitable for use by musicians as they maintain the natural frequency balance of music.

Our recommendation for hearing protection is the Elacin ER which is a hearing protector with a filter that offers flat attenuation at any given frequency. The sound reproduction is retained due to the flat attenuation, without distortion. It sounds like turning down the volume of the radio. That is why the ER is suitable for people working in an environment where retaining sound and speech inteligibillity are of great importance.

Standard hearing protectors (disposable and pre-shaped) are not suitable for people working in such environments. They often suppress more sound than necessary. Especially the higher frequencies are suppressed disproportionately which causes the natural sound to be distorted strongly.

Elacin ER hearing protectors are made of soft sillicone material.

You can choose from three types of filters: ER9, ER15 or ER25. This depends on the sound level you require. The filters are all the same size and can therefore be easily exchanged.

We are able to offer advice on the most appropriate filter values to use in a range of situations, so that we can offer maximum listening comfort whilst offering an appropriate level of hearing protection.
